OUR PROCESS

STEP 1

Receiving

Packages are weighed, documented, and imaged on arrival. Orders get a unique invoice, tracking number, and random ID to ensure anonymity. Coins are stored in separate boxes to avoid mix-ups.

STEP 2

Grading

Coins are checked for authenticity to rule out counterfeits or alterations. Two graders assess each coin; a third resolves disagreements. Once they reach a consensus, the coin receives its final grade.

STEP 3

Labelling

Graded coins are labeled with details like date, mintmark, grade, and a unique serial number. They are sealed in tamper-proof holders that guarantee their grade and authenticity.

STEP 4

Shipping

Every step is checked for accuracy before shipping. Customer service confirms requests, and coins are securely packed. Customers receive an email with grades and tracking. Packages are shipped promptly.

Handling Coin Packages

ICG handles numerous coin packages daily and strongly recommends using registered and insured USPS services for sending coins. Although this method may take a bit longer, it is the safest option and allows insurance up to $25,000 per package.

  • 24 Hour Surveillance: Coins are transferred to the Grading Room under 24/7 surveillance.
  • Accuracy Verification: At least two graders verify the accuracy of packages before shipping.
  • Immediate Shipping: ICG ships completed packages immediately and will never hold them back.

OUR HOLDER

Approximately 3 1/4 x 2 1/2 x 3/8 inches with slight indentations near the bottom portion of the label.

ICG’s patented, state-of-the-art hard plastic holder is tamper-evident, ultrasonically sealed, and marked with our custom hologram system.

Holds coins, medals, and tokens as large as 40 mm across and 4.5 mm thick.

The clear piece that holds the coin in place is available in many sizes and can hold coins as small as 9 mm.

Color gaskets are available upon request for an additional fee.

Was your coin ICG-graded?

For coins graded by ICG prior to 2009, the barcode appears on both the front and back of the holder, with the serial number centered above the front barcode. We also offer custom labeling, which may result in slabbed coins with labels that differ from standard descriptions.

If you are concerned that your coin may not be an ICG-graded coin, feel free to reach out to verify (and attach a picture if needed)!

What’s on our label?
