The ICG Slab
ICG’s attractive, tamper-evident holder is ultrasonically sealed and features ICG’s custom hologram system.
The holder measures approximately 3 1/4 x 2 1/2 x 3/8 inches with slight indentations near the bottom portion of the label. It holds coins, medals and tokens as large as 40 mm across and 4.5 mm thick.
Our gaskets (the clear piece that holds the coin in place) come in dozens of different sizes and hold coins as small as 9 mm. We will also custom cut gaskets to fit “odd” shaped coins.
All Presidential dollars are fitted with ICG’s Presidential View Holder. This specially designed gasket allows for the viewing of the coins edge.
The ICG label consists of the date, the mint mark and the denomination on the top line. The grade assigned indicating the coin’s condition by ICG’s team of renowned experts is printed in the middle of the second line. If the coin is not a United States issue, the line just below the grade will list the country of origin. Next, the special type or issue of coin is left justified on the bottom line along with any information required with an assigned “Details” grade. The coin ID number and barcode are found on the back of the label of current issue ICG slabbed coins. ICG’s barcode uses the Interleaved 2 of 5 format, a very common barcode read easily by almost any type of scanner.
Labels of coins graded by ICG prior to 2009 look slightly different. The barcode will be found on both the front and the back of the holder, and the serial number will be centered above the front barcode.
We also provide custom labeling and because of this, there may be ICG slabbed coins that have labels that do not match these descriptions. If you have a coin that you are concerned may not be an ICG graded coin, please contact ICG Customer Service to verify the holder. You may also email a picture for verification to customersatisfaction@icgcoin.com.
